The lead CLS is the team leader of a subspecialty. Performs waived, moderately and highly complex laboratory tests as defined by CLIA in one or more sections of the clinical laboratory on patients of all age groups. Provides leadership in the daily operations of the section assigned. In this capacity, the lead is responsible for maintaining daily staffing and scheduling in the absence of the manager of the lab director; coaching; orientation of new staff; troubleshooting and problem-solving customer complaints; staff development; and assistance in monitoring and evaluating performance of staff by providing input to the manager, participating in communication of evaluations and corrective actions.
Qualifications: A valid CA Clinical Laboratory Scientist license or limited license appropriate for the area of responsibility (required). ASCP or AAB Board of Registry certification or equivalent (preferred). A bachelor’s degree in a biological science, chemistry, or medical technology; or an appropriate Baccalaureate Degree with specialist certification in appropriate specialty, or equivalent education and experience (preferred).
