Job Summary

Under the leadership of the Nursing Director, the Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for coordinating the daily twenty-four (24) hour operations of assigned unit/area patient care in order to provide high quality and individual patient care.  Functions as a leader and an expert professional practitioner and assumes responsibility and accountability for the expert application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care.  Ensures nursing staff on assigned unit(s) perform within their scope of responsibility and duties, and ensures accountability at the facility, department and position levels, including knowledge of required clinical technical skills consistent with the Nurse Practice Act, Title 22, Joint Commission, The Plan for Provision of Nursing Care, and other regulatory requirements. Assists with all administrative processes applicable to assigned unit(s), including human resources, budgeting, staffing, quality improvement planning and educational development programs.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:  Education:  Bachelor of Science in Nursing (required).  Master’s degree (preferred). Valid State of California Registered Nurse License (required).  BCLS, ACLS, and PALS (required).  NIHSS Credential (required within 6-months of hire).  CEN Certification (preferred). 

Experience/Knowledge:  Minimum three years’ experience in an acute care setting, which includes two (2) years in specialty and supervisory experience (required).  Working knowledge of Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission and other state and local regulatory requirements (required).  Strong interpersonal and communication skills (required). 

Knowledgeable and proficient in the use of health care technology within specialty area (required). Demonstrated commitment to customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues (required).  Full command (verbal and written) of the English language (required).  Demonstrated success working independently, forging relationships, and managing multiple tasks with minimal direction (required).  Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative information for decision support (required).  High level of proficiency using Microsoft Windows and other Microsoft Office software (required).  Must be able to manage competing priorities, while being extremely adaptable and flexible and maintaining a positive work environment (required).
